Zuani is a family-owned winery in the Collio DOC of Friuli Venezia Giulia specializing in terroir-focused white wines in the hills of San Floriano and named after the ancient local name for the estate's land. Set in wildly rolling hills far in the northeastern corner of Italy- with close cultural ties to Austria and Slovenia.

Patrizia Felluga is the 5th generation of a viticulture family dating back to late 19th century Istria, Croatia. In 2001, she acquired the vineyard from a well-known old farmer. It was then, when she purchased the lands, that she made her dreams a reality. Growing only white grapes she and her 2 children, Antonio and  Caterina, make 4 fabulous wines. Zuani's wines are like Patrizia- lovely and most memorable, with a warm lasting impression that keeps you smiling.

Zuani | ‘Sodevo’ Ribolla Gialla

Collio DOC

One up your white wine drinking!

GRAPES: Ribolla Gialla
APPELLATION: Collio DOC
CHARACTERISTICS: Straw yellow with delicate green hues. Subtle floral overtones; acacia flower and jasmine.
Elegant and fresh with a pleasant acidity and citrusy finish.
SOIL TYPE: Marl and sandstone of Eocene origin, known as Ponca. Excellent exposure and position, with medium to steep slope.

VINIFICATION: The grapes are macerated for approximately 12 hours and softly crushed. The must is then left to ferment in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature. A small part of the wine is aged in oak barrels.
PAIRING: Ideal as an aperitif or served with seafood starters, fish, and vegetable first courses. It is perfectly matched to ham and fresh cheese.

This Ribolla is a wonderful food grape, savory, and delicately fruity with clean citrus, jasmine, and apple alongside a well-balanced acidity. Ribolla Gialla is the autochthonous white grape par excellence. It is probably the oldest vine in the region, as the earliest evidence of its diffusion dates back to the Roman Empire. This grape variety, with its late budburst and ripening, is inextricably linked to the history of our hills.

’Delicately scented, this has soft aromas of white spring flowers, white stone fruit and botanical herb. Vibrant and elegant, the racy palate offers peach, Meyer lemon and ripe pear alongside crisp acidity before a tangy mineral close. 93 PTS ‘EDITORS’ CHOICE (2018)
