Committed to the advancement of Liguria -
Cousins Marco Luzzati and Giorgio Guastalla formed Peq Agri in 2019, a company they established together after years of success in their own businesses outside the wine industry. While they have always been in the food and beverage industry, this collaboration brings them into wine more organically. They are food purists who want to return to the past to find and cultivate new development models that enhance the territory and improve the quality of life. Agricultural products and simple transformations are the engines of this project, based on the belief that there is room to pursue and rediscover those values that are finding less and less place in our world. They are whole thinkers- believing that every person, item, and, thought within their circle of work matters. It is not just about one thing, but all parts together. Their portfolio of four wineries —Cascina Praie, Lupi, Berry & Berry, and Guglierame —is now under one name: PEQ, with each distinct property named accordingly. All are set high in the rustic hills or facing the sea of western Liguria, halfway between Nice and Genoa in the Riviera Ligure di Ponente.
You can experience it for yourself with a traditional dinner at the winery's Michelin-starred restaurant, where their wines are expertly paired with local dishes to create a truly unforgettable dining experience. Alternatively, you can discover Liguria hands-on at the farm's agriturismo.

Pigato and Vermentino, Liguria’s most famous grapes, are the backbone of this family-run winery. They also aim to revive several of the region’s oldest but less well-known varieties, such as Barbarossa, Granaccia, and Rossese, all of which have historical roots. The vineyards of Cascina Praié sit amid a splendid micro-climate. High hills facing the sea, kissed by the sun and cooled by the winds that blow down from the Alps and the northern Apennines, protect the area from humidity and yield the region's finest wines.
Cascina Paraié has 8 of the 12 hectares dedicated to vineyards, ranging from the youngest Cervo site, which has only recently begun producing, to the older Colla Micheri vineyards dating back to the 1970s. The winery is not officially certified for organic production, but its cultivation and vinification protocols are based on the most stringent natural production parameters. Several wines are fermented naturally with ambient yeasts, while others use primary, strictly non-GMO, cultured yeasts.
VINEYARDS:
Testico (Province of Savona) (Rossese, the Pigato, and the Vermentino). This vineyard is influenced by the characteristic of being a hilly area (400 m above sea level) and, therefore, an extraordinary temperature even in summer.
Colla Micheri in Andora (Province of Savona) (Vermentino, Alicante, and Pigato). Their Colla Micheri vineyards are arranged in terraces supported by over 20 km of stone walls on very sloping land; the grapes are harvested entirely manually, an element that allows us incredible attention and cares towards our precious fruits—500 m above sea level.
Cervo (Province of Imperia) (Rossese and Alicante) The Cervo vineyards enjoy a breathtaking sea view all year round. Exposure to the sun and brackish currents influences the very intense aroma. The choice of the territory on which to settle the vineyard does not allow mistakes: the soil, the exposure, its microclimate, and the surrounding environment "mark" inexorably the qualities of its wine.

The Lupi wines are produced with the same philosophy that Tomasso Lupi maintained in 1965: time-honored, correct wines that express the Ligurian countryside and Riviera and, most notably, enhance the delicious classic foods of the area (and beyond).
The 'backward' narrative of Cantina Lupi formed in the 1950s before the first bottle was labeled or the first vine was planted.
In the 1950s, Tommaso Lupi and his sister Pina established a bar-tavern in the Ligurian Riviera neighborhood of Oneglia in Imperia, the nucleus of Liguria's economy during those years, due to the oil commerce. Shortly after, their bar became *the spot*, known for the delicious provincial wines they had appointed. In the mid-1960s, Tommaso and his brother Angelo ventured to initiate their own Cantina in Pieve di Teco. They set up a winemaking facility in an abandoned monastery that dates back to the year 1000 AD. The brothers began as negociants, purchasing local grapes and making wine with significant success. In later years, they bought land, grew their grapes, and created a label synonymous with Liguria. The winery was handed down to Tommaso's son, Massimo, who continued his father's way. In 2021, Marco and Giorgio acquired Lupi and will resume the Lupi traditions.
Pieve di Teco is located in the hills, 20 km above Imperia, and is home to roughly 1,300 people. This picturesque medieval townlet in the upper Arroscia Valley is closer to the Piedmont border than the sea- but Liguria is a moon-shaped slice of heaven; the sea is always relative. The area is well known for Pigatto and Vermentino, though the Rossesse and Ormeasco di Pornassio hold a special place in the heart of mountain-dwelling Ligurians.

Pigato grape variety
Campochiesa d’Albenga (SV) vineyardThis Pigato comes exclusively from the ‘Petraie’ vineyard in Salea, a flat area with clay soil that gives it unique characteristics. At least six months on the lees, then bottle-aged. Pigato Petraie reaches its peak organoleptic qualities five years after harvest—elegant aromas in flawless symmetry with fruity components that linger. 'Petraie' is structured with a full-bodied, balanced palate, reinforced by lovely acidity and mouthwatering salinity—finally, a Pigato worthy of distinction.
Delicious flavors: a whiff of white pepper, white peach, wafting wild herbs, and lemon pith. The wine shows solid maturity; two to four years is a minimum. Its name is a nod of appreciation to the complex process and the challenging conditions of the rocky landscape. The Liguria hills are visually dazzling. More than 100 million cubic meters of terraced stone walls retain the earth, terracing the gardens and vineyards in the steep terrain.

Riviera Liguri di Ponente DOC
•••In 1998, the first vinification was made to celebrate the vines and the sea. While this is a spectacular wine of great prestige, it is not recognized, so, by law, it was classified as IGT without a vintage. Vignamare is just too darn fabulous to allow this to set back. In early 2020, it was recognized as a DOC.
This wine is to be chewed! Maceration and manual batonnage are at the core. Elegant and encompassing, with charmingly profound yet perky flavors. Tastes of warm, creamy bread with sparkles of fine-grained sea salt, candied apricots, toasted almond cookies, a big slice of Christmas panettone, plus a trace of your father's sandalwood cologne that lingers in the air after a generous hug. Man o' man, it is irresistible and exceptionally adult-ish, forcing you to straighten and expand engagement. Vignamare chatters all the mysteries of Liguria, keeping you engaged and delighted from its Burgundian beginning to its peppery clean finish.

Testico (SV) vineyard‘Il Canneto’ is a modern Pigato with a strong identity. The vineyard is located about 500 m above sea level, along a volcanic vein. The special microclimate ensures high acidity, and the soil adds flavour and minerality that complement Pigato’s characteristic notes. The Characteristic flaxen hue with faint green reflections is particular to Lupi and synonymous with Liguria.

Ormeasco di Pornassio D.O.C.
•••
Ormeasco grape variety
Pornassio (IM) vineyard'It is not so important to be serious as it is to be serious about the important...', said Robert Maynard Hutchins. Conceivably, he relished a sip of Ormeasco when this occurred to him.
Lupi's Ormeasco has a time-honored deep ruby color with violet tints, offering a fragrant bouquet of blackberry and raspberry, fennel, and a sprinkle of black pepper. This is an important wine, fresh and bright; the mouth is dry and warm, with just enough soft tannins and a trickle of bitterness that only adds charm. It’s aged 24 months in stainless steel, making it ideal for tucking away for a subsequent performance. It is produced primarily from old-vine vines grown 600+ meters above sea level. This wine is the crown jewel of the mountainous area above Imperia. Ormeasco is one of the most ancient Ligurian red varietals, with a long history and strong tradition, and winemakers in this region take it seriously.
