Fresh and forward in Scansano-
Tenuta Aquilaia is situated in the municipality of Scansano, province of Grosseto, and is a true gem in the heart of Maremma. With a total area of 40 hectares, 18 of which are dedicated to viticulture, it is located in the valley of the Fosso Sanguinaio stream, near its confluence with the Albegna River. This advantageous geographical location offers a breathtaking microclimate that reflects a long tradition associated with Etruscan winemaking culture. The gentle hills of Pliocene and Quaternary origin are characterized by clay-loamy soils rich in minerals and microelements, making them perfect for cultivating local and international grape varieties.
At Tenuta Aquilaia, the owners, Fabio, Daniele, and Giacomo, are driven by principles that prioritize preserving the land, promoting local traditions, and embracing modern techniques. This commitment is evident in the winery's southwest-facing vineyards, home to ancient grape varieties such as Vermentino, Ciliegiolo, and Sangiovese- known locally as Morellino. These varieties harmonize beautifully with international varieties like Chardonnay, Petit Verdot, Alicante, and Merlot. The maritime-influenced soils contribute to a complex essence, highlighting the minerality and salinity distinctive to Maremma.

Südtirol-Alto Adige DOC
The harmony and freshness of this prestigious white wine are born from the Vermentino grape variety, a historical and generous Mediterranean grape. Notes of jasmine and tropical fruit enhance the wine’s aromatic breadth, accompanied by an intense and pleasant minerality.
Tenuta Aquilaia Vermentino is made exclusively from Vermentino grapes grown on clay and sandy soils, also characterised by the presence of gravel and pebbles, which are particularly rich in organic substance. Following the harvest, the grapes are pressed and the must undergoes a cold skin maceration of 12-15 hours at a temperature of between 10 and 12 °C. This is followed by soft pressing and then alcoholic fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 18-22 °C. The subsequent maturing phase of a few months also takes place in stainless steel and after a further rest in the bottle the wine is finally ready for release.
The Vermentino of the Tuscan Tenuta Aquilaia possesses a straw-yellow colour with greenish highlights. The nose offers fruity and floral hints reminiscent of apple, tropical fruit, jasmine and peach blossom, surrounded by fresh hints of citrus. The sip is characterised by savouriness and richness, elements well supported by the balancing freshness that anticipates the persistent finish.

More cherries, please!
Ciliegiolo has withstood the test of time. It is known for its intensity and roundness and has been relished for two thousand years since the Etruscans. Tenuta Aquilaia's Ciliegiolo is harmonious and embodies the soul and taste of this generous land. Concerning tradition and the environment, the selected grapes are harvested by hand and left to be refined in wood and a bottle. The grapes undergo fermentation at a controlled temperature of 26°C with maceration on the skins for 15 days. This is followed by malolactic fermentation immediately after alcoholic fermentation, which enhances the wine's complexity and roundness. The wine then ages in stainless steel tanks for eight months, gradually allowing it to develop its structure and distinctive character. The meticulous care and attention during all stages of winemaking and aging give the Ciliegiolo a rich, aromatic personality, embodying the authentic essence of the territory and the winemaking tradition of the Maremma.
The bouquet of aromas that distinguishes Tenuta Aquilaia's Ciliegiolo celebrates every nuance of the cherry. This wine reveals an elegant and enveloping structure on the palate, characterized by a pleasant roundness and a satisfying aromatic persistence. What sets their Ciliegiolo apart is its truly versatile, vibrant personality. It is perfect for more straightforward everyday dishes, making it an excellent choice for various meals.

young and chunky, filled with spicy brambling fruits
This easy pleaser is primarily Sangiovese, known locally as Morellino, with a touch of Petit Verdot, and is a true reflection of Maremma's warm Mediterranean climate. Their unique environment gives the wine its full-flavored, vibrant, and appealing young red characteristics, all from vines cultivated on gently sloping vineyards just 20km from the coast. The fermentation process, occurring at a controlled temperature of 26° C with maceration of the skins for 15 days, and the subsequent malolactic fermentation, followed by 6 months of refinement in stainless steel, further enhances the connection to our wine's origin.
Wild bramble and ripe plum fruit on the nose, warm and spicy with notes of mint and Mediterranean herbs. Fresh red berry and cherry characters combine with supple tannins and juicy acidity on the palate—a vigorous, chunky young red with concentration and personality.
Pairings: It pairs well with appetizers, first courses featuring fish and vegetables, and second courses of fish, white meats, and cheeses. In the summer, serve it chilled.
