MARINA DANIELI
HISTORICALLY RUN BY WOMEN-
The name Danieli has long been closely associated with one of the world's most prominent and respected steel industry groups. However, Marina has chosen to follow her deep-rooted love for the local countryside and its stunning natural surroundings by dedicating herself wholeheartedly to the vineyards situated on the iconic rolling hills of Buttrio. Over time, she has further expanded her passion by developing a welcoming hospitality venture, embracing the spirit of the region and its traditions.
As a third-generation woman, her daughter now represents the fourth generation to oversee and manage these historic lands; Marina has elevated the estate to a far more prestigious and prosperous position than she initially inherited. She cultivates indigenous grape varieties on the rolling hills and fertile flatlands of Buttrio, a region shaped and carved out by ancient glaciers. The soil here is exceptionally rich in minerals, providing an ideal environment for sustainable and thriving farming practices.
Marina has worked diligently and with great dedication in honor of her family’s name. Borrowing an old and meaningful family symbol, ‘il mus,’ the donkey, which stands for stubbornness, strength, and resilience, this emblem also holds a special place in Marina’s grandfather’s heart, as it reminds him of his sharp wit and determination, qualities he valued highly when he chose it as the family’s enduring emblem.

Pinot Grigio made in the traditional northern way- before it was white-washed.
For over 40 years, their vineyards have produced small and compact grape clusters with a dark grey color, full of juice, and with thin skin. Their Pinot Grigio wine is made according to the traditional method, where the grape’s skins are left together with the pulp. The result is a balanced, rich white wine with a distinctive “peach flower” color.

Delicacy, freshness, vivacity, and grace.
Ribolla Gialla is a white Italian grape grown most prominently in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region of North East Italy. They don’t use any chemicals for our Ribolla Gialla, and after a short maceration with the skins, it produces a light-medium-bodied wine with floral aromatics. Fragrant and linear, it has delicate scents of spring tree blossoms and freshly picked green apples, with a good mix of white peaches, pears, and lemon zest. The mineral note adds support, while zesty acidity gives it a tangy, vibrant finish.

Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso, a native grape variety and a true oenological treasure waiting to be discovered.
This vine's history is so old that its exact origin is still debated today. According to the most popular theory, Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso would be a native red vine of Friuli, an ancestor of other important vines such as Marzemino and of Refosk Istarski or Terrano. We know, however, that Pliny the Elder already loved this wine, which was quite widespread in ancient Rome.
Refosco is a complex grape variety, a bit like Pinot Noir , which requires warm temperatures to reach full maturity. If not subjected to refinement, wines produced with Refosco dal Peduncolo Rosso are very acidic and have a marked tannicity.
To tame this vine, the refinement in wood, more or less prolonged, has gradually established itself. What is originally an edgy wine reveals with age, and after a period in wood, aromas of wild berries, black fruit jam and tertiary notes (those due to the wood) of black pepper and tobacco . On the palate it is a structured wine, with a medium high alcohol content and good persistence, the tannins, although softened by aging, are still felt.

Friuli Colli Orienetali DOC

This almost extinct, soulful grape has rich historical importance in Friuli.
This unique wine is made from native Schioppettino grapes, an almost extinct varietal until a few years ago. Schioppettino grapes open with a gamey, dried herbed nose. Breathtakingly, it livens on the palate with a crumbing of freshly milled black pepper, cool-weather baking spices, and black fruit. The wine has a slight tartness and sourness and leaves a lasting impression thanks to the healthy integrity of its fresh fruit.
